Thank you - I had not appreciated the 5 virtual givens - all the rest was there but without that of course I was not able to proceed!

I have been trying this for a while now. So far 1) I have a ("given") digit 2) I can reduce the possibilities of the middle cells in boxes 1,3,7 and 9 quite a lot. 3) In one of those cases that has an impact on what kinds of numbers go on the arrow tips (well, actually in both, both one seems more interesting). Anyway I don't see how to get further. Tried some colouring, experimented if I could reduce the V possibilities or send them around the grid - none of that worked for me. If what I wrote above is correct I'd appreciate a small hint.
@Montikulum LOOKING AT THE CENTER BOX- There are 5 forced numbers immediately. HINT: What is the sum of the numbers in the center box, excluding the center number? FOR THE CORNER BOXES- There are only 2 numbers that can fit in the centers of boxes 1, 3, 7, and 9. One forces arrow tips to be even numbers. The other forces tips to be low numbers. So, there is an X-Wing on those 2 numbers. Secondly, if you think about the pattern of the 5 virtual givens, you find that that number is forced into the outer ring of the puzzle. One of the arrows shows where.

It was hard this evening @Will, because I'm tired, but it was a big fun to solve.. You ever have interesting ideas, I've enjoyed a lot the crossgame in the corner boxes..
