Constellation Sudoku V: Taurus

(Published on 26. May 2022, 07:00 by Jreg)

This is a continuation of my previously published idea, Constellation Sudoku - with an added custom constellation rule. This puzzle is based around an existing constellation called Taurus which is also one of the astrological signs. For the first time since I started making these, I tried combining the constellation rule with thermometers instead of arrows.

Also thanks partially to the help of one Steve360, I learnt how to create CTC App links! I will be including them from now on along with the F Puzzles links.

If you like this idea and the puzzle I created using it, I would love to see more people take this concept and construct their own puzzles with it! I think it has a cool potential, but I'm not a good enough setter to do it justice. Let me know what you think and have at it!

The rules are as follows:

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Digits placed on the thermometers must increase from the bulb end.

Every star in the constellation (i.e. the turqoise circles) must have a different digit on it.

The observatories (marked with the pointy white symbols) contain digits that are the sum of all stars they can see horizontally, vertically and diagonally. The observatories may contain repeated digits.

For reference, you can also view and play my other constellation sudokus following these links:

Constellation Sudoku II: Lupus
Constellation Sudoku III: Pisces
Constellation Sudoku IV: Scorpius

Solution code: Digits in row 2 followed by digits in row 3 (a total of 18 digits).

What a beautiful series of deductions to get the break in.

Congratulations on a brilliantly well set puzzle. If you are able to add the CTC links to the previous puzzles in the series that would be great.
