Shattered Glass

(Published on 24. May 2022, 23:14 by Malrog)

Note: This is a less common variant, which some call 'double arrows'. I've been calling it 'sum lines' and the rules are simple, as you'll see.

This puzzle is a good one to introduce the constraint, due to its lower difficulty. If you enjoy this puzzle, you may want to consider moving on to my other (slightly harder) sum lines puzzle: Circuit Board.

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Sum Lines: The digits on the ends of a line must sum to the same total as the rest of the digits on that line.

Great puzzle. Love that it used odd/even parity to solve

I do not understand the rules
-----
Perhaps an example would help to explain the sum lines constraint? In the puzzle, the sum of the digits on the end of the line in box 3 (r2c8+r2c9) must equal the sum of the digits on the rest of the line (r1c7+r1c8+r1c9+r2c7).
Further, there is no restriction on repeating digits on a line, other than where this would break normal sudoku rules.
-----
How long is the end of the line? Always 2 cells?
-----
Yes, one cell at each end of the line.
