Chaos Construction: diagonals

(Published on 23. May 2022, 07:00 by Prutsbeest)

Every digit from 1 to 9 appears once in every row, column and region. The 9 regions are to be determined. Every region is a set of 9 orthogonally connected cells.

Circled digits signify the number of cells it sees diagonally in its region (not including itself). Not all circles are necessarily given.

Here is a 6x6 example to illustrate the ruleset:

And then for the actual puzzle:

Solve using F-puzzles or using the C.T.C. app

Solution code: Row 1 followed by column 6 (18 digits, no spaces)

Very hard Sudoku in the end, for me at least! Great puzzle with an interesting rule set.

such a cool puzzle with some amazing geometry, I was surprised how powerful the diagonal constraint is (in the right hands of course).

Very nice! Easy start, then gets a lot more intricate, but with some elegant deductions.

Lovely puzzle, felt a lot harder than a 3 star difficulty, to me. Gave my brain hamsters a good workout, thank-you!
