Smorgasbord of Lost Religion/Smörgasbord der verlorenen Religion
(Published on 19. May 2022, 20:44 by Ryx)
A recent puzzle inpired a thought: what if I just took one of each constraint and laid them down a diagonal? That was the genesis for this puzzle. The first version of this puzzle (without the 2 and 12 Sandwich clues), while solveable, was not enjoyable. It was a ridiculously easy start followed by a brick wall, then a mediocre finish. I called that one Smorgasboard Roller Coaster. I decided to make it more consistent and added the two additional Sandwich clues, leaving it an easy solve throughout (and maybe a good primer for folks to learn Disjoint Groups). If you really want a challenge, you can always ignore the 2 and 12 Sandwich clues ;-)
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Arrows: Digits along the arrow must sum to the given total in the circle (r5c5, r4c4,r5c3 and r5c5, r4c4,r3c5)
Between Lines: Digits along the line between the circles must come between the circles values (r4c4-r9c9)
Disjoint Groups: No number can repeat in the same position in 3x3 boxes.
German Whisper: Consecutive digits along the Green lines must differ by at least 5 (r8c8 - r9c9)
Killer Cage: Cells sum to the number given in the upper left corner of the cage (dotted lines)
Kropki Dots: Digits separated by black dots must be in a ratio of 1:2. Digits separated by white dots must differ by 1
Maximum: Gray cells with outward arrows indicate that cell is greater in value than all of its surrounding cells.
Note: This clue is hidden by a Between Line circle, in r9c9
Minimum: Gray cells with inward arrows indicate that cell is lesser in value than all of its orthogonally surrounding cells
Negative Diagonal: Numbers do not repeat along the r1c1-r9c9 diagonal
Quadruple: Numbers in the small circle must appear within the surrounding cells
Renban: Purple lines contain a consecutive set of non-repeating digits, in any order (r6c6-r8c8)
Sandwich: Numbers outside a row or column indicate the sum of the digits found between the 1 and 9 in that row or column
XV: Digits separated by an X must sum to 10. Digits separated by a V must sum to 5
... That's 3 in the corners ... losing their religion ;-)

This one is a ton of fun to start. Then getting through the disjoint sets is, as always, a slog.
@ rugbyrefmd - I'm glad you got some joy out of it. Ya, those disjoints are hard to spot at times.

And the zero sandwich clue may not be needed, either. I just realized that I forgot all about it! It doesn't look like it should have huge ruleset. Interesting puzzle.
@ danmeehan91324 - Yes, that is correct, it is not needed for the solve. I just put it in for aesthetics/symmetry, to have two clues on either side of the r1c1 cell.
Thanks for the feedback!
