The Whispering Cookie

(Published on 21. April 2022, 12:40 by Jreg)

I made this puzzle in the name of CookieWookie who dropped the very first comment on my very first puzzle.

The rules are as follows:

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

The brown line represents a chocolate chip cookie and the brown squares are the chocolate chips. Each chocolate chip has a different number.

The cookie itself functions both as a whispers line and a palindrome. Regular whisper rules state that any adjacent digits on a whispers line must differ by at least five. Regular palindrome rules state that a sequence of digits on a line reads the same way from either end.

To enable these to function since the cookie is a circle with no end, there are exactly two pairs of adjacent repeated digits somewhere on the line; these must be deduced. At these points, the whisper rule isn't forced, and the palindrome may start or finish on either one of these pairs.

Finally, the digits placed on the arrow must sum up to the total given in the connected circle.

Solution code: The chocolate chip numbers read from the top row and left to right (as you would read a text).

Revision: I removed an underlying palindrome line due to issues with programming and to prevent accidental clues.
