Gray Areas

A Killer Sudoku with a special cage sum constraint.

Rules

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Digits in cages cannot repeat and sum to a value to be determined by the following rules. The sums of any two orthogonally adjacent cages must either be consecutive or have a ratio of 2:1.

I just replayed it and can confirm: the logic is sound, and there's no deadly pattern anywhere.

Thank you for doing this. I'd have really hated to post a broken puzzle and this helps remove any doubt.

Hm, but the solution is not unique, there is a deadly pattern in r1 and r2... Am I missing something?

I didn't intend for multiple solutions, but I might have made a mistake. Can you post a hidden comment with the top two rows of your alternate solution so I can check?

I went ahead and double checked my logic. While there is a fairly difficult deduction halfway through (so the 5 star difficulty), I verified the puzzle unwinds without a deadly pattern once that deduction is made. Without anything further to go on I will state for the other solvers that I still believe this to have a unique solution until proven otherwise.

10feet, my bad! I found an error that caused deadly pattern. The puzzle is clean, I'm sorry for confusion.

Thanks for getting back. I just really wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting people's time with a broken puzzle. We all make mistakes from time to time.
