(Published on 8. April 2022, 18:16 by Phistomefel)

This puzzle is a Chaos Construction, in which you have to draw a loop that enters and leaves every region exactly once.

  1. Fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 9 such that every row, every column and every region contains each of the numbers from 1 to 9 once. The regions are sets of nine connected cells and first have to be determined.
  2. Draw a loop that travels horizontally or vertically from cell to cell into the grid. This loop enters and leaves every region exactly once.
  3. A number in the top left corner of a cell indicates the sum of the digits in all visited cells in the respective region.
Here you find an example of this puzzle type on a 6x6 grid:

Here you can find a link to solve the example online.

The puzzle is also available online via Penpa Plus. For solution check please use green lines for the loop and red, green or blue numbers. Have fun solving!

Fantastic puzzle, I loved every deduction! It didn’t really feel like a 5* puzzle because of how smooth it was

Very brilliant and entertaining puzzle which caused my brain to go on loops a few times ! I don't know if the path I found was the intended one (gotta check how Ctc solved it), but it made me feel good anyway ! I'm definitely caught in your loop !

My first phistomefel puzzle I completed without help! (If you don't count example puzzles)
Thank you a lot for the fantastic work you're doing!

Wow! What a puzzle! Very hard, but just as amazingly good. Definitely extra good brain exercise.
Double Simon's time, but very chuffed I was able to complete it without hints. Only a few months ago that would have been unthinkable!

Gigantisch, wie sich alles ergeben hat, nachdem ein bestimmtes Gebiet gefunden wurde.
Gigantic, how everything turned out after a certain region was found.

In the example, 14 is not in the top left of the purple region. Is this intentional?

----

Reply: Yes, this is intentional. The cells containing the clues can be at any position within the region.

I have to admit, I made myself harder to scan this grid after getting through lots of steps, fairly challenging but extremely enjoyable puzzle (considering I'm not really good at loop puzzles) :}

Surprisingly approachable— the example puzzle was quite instructive too, always appreciate that Phistomefel!

This is such a clean solve for a puzzle that looks like it should be much more difficult than it is. Fantastic puzzle as always. Thank you for this.

Thank you for the very kind feedback, everyone! I am very happy that you enjoyed the puzzle!

@Niverio: Thank you for informing me about the issue! It is a bit unfortunate that I chose a red line for the example, but the green one was very badly visible. I will include the line issue in the desciption.

@Piatato: Thank you for the question - the loop can only move orthogonally. I will include it in the rules.

I was quite nervous about this one, since I'm in general horrible at solving different kinds of loop puzzles, haha! In the end I had a really enjoyable time solving this puzzle, it all came together in a very elegant fashion. Thank you a lot for setting this!

Really fun, thanks!

This loop cannot move diagonally, I assume?

Very fun puzzle, thanks Phistomefel!

Note: When I did solve it in Penpa+ link, the answer check didn't trigger even though solution code was correct. I checked and my edges were there, I did color the different regions too. Maybe that had an effect?

Edit: Vebby contacted me and said that it would likely be because I used red lines for the loop, while it needed to be green, so issue resolved.
