Say What?

(Published on 30. April 2022, 14:00 by djorr)

This was the puzzle I made for the public puzzle pack "March of the Quads", created by BremSter and Skunkworks. Enjoy!

Rules: Normal sudoku rules apply. The number in the white circle must appear in the four surrounding cells.

Cages and diagonal clues are NOT standard. Digits may repeat in cages or along diagonals. The numbers should be read as a "look-and-say" number. Each number says which digits are in the respective cage or on the respective diagonal. For example, if a cage clue is 1221, this means there is 1 two and 2 ones in the cage. If a diagonal reads 33, then there are 3 threes along the diagonal.

Tbh, i do not understand the rules exactly.
I would expect a cage marked with "11" should contain one 1.
But there is a 2 field cage with that number. It's obviously not possible there. So this seems to be the sum???
Have i to find out which are sums and which are "look-and-say"?

Hi Dermerlin, these are all look-and-say cages. Yes, the 11 cage needs to contain one 1. I'm not sure what you mean by the "2 field cage with that number". Are you referring to the 2411 cage? The 2411 cage needs to contain two 4s and one 1. Let me know if this helps!

EDIT:I had a knot in my brain. I tried to put one 1 into that 2 field cage on the right border AND simultaneously to make the sum 11....
.
.
EDIT 2: Now as i got the rules, i was able to solve. Thx, very nice puzzle.
