Fillominori

(Published on 22. March 2022, 08:00 by SudokuExplorer)

Standard Fillomino rules apply
Divide the grid into regions, so that no two orthogonally adjacent regions have the same size.
A number in a cell gives the size of the region containing it.

Standard Norinori rules apply
Shade exactly two cells in each region.
Each shaded area forms a domino, not necessarily within a region.

You can try this in Penpa+. Enjoy!

Solution code: For rows 4 and 9, enter the region sizes of each unshaded cell.

This was such a fun journey! Quite tricky, but always fair. I enjoyed the top half of the grid especially, there were many little nuances to discover!

Great puzzle! Figuring out these regions really scratches the same itch as setting a puzzle like norinori - "this region must extend this way, otherwise it'll cause a conflict over here", etc. But when solving this (unlike when setting) I'm guaranteed there is a solution! Thanks!

My first nori-nori puzzle, so it took some thinking to get the basic properties, and after that it was a very pleasant and interesting solve. Thanks !

Very nice new hybrid variant! The break-in was the trickiest part for me, after that it flowed very smoothly with a lot of really fun logic.
