- Clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the digits placed before digit A (a) in the respective row or column (the sum in c2 is odd). Digit A (a) is constant throughout the entire puzzle. It is part of solving to find the value of A (a); x, y and z are also constant throughout the entire puzzle and different letters may refer to the same digit.
