Parity Party XXII, "Party Hearty"

(Published on 4. January 2022, 04:19 by glum_hippo)

Apply standard irregular sudoku rules. Each row, column, and outlined region must contain the digits 1-9 exactly once each. However, the shapes of regions need to be determined.

Clues along the edges are 'Parity Party' clues. They give the sum of the digits seen from that standpoint up to and including the first odd OR first even digit. It is possible for a one-digit clue to be fulfilled by a single digit.

For every given Parity Party clue, the final digit of the sequence is followed by a region edge, and no such sequence is interrupted by a region edge. Where no clue is given, the digits seen in that region must not constitute a valid Parity Party sequence (e.g., 2634, 175, 46, 381, etc). A '?' stands for any number.

No particular step is hard to find, but it is also very easy to slip (at least in my case it was). Thanks a lot for this gem of a puzzle (and happy new year 2022 to you as well).

Thanks for all your comments, Magnus, Jesper, SE and marc. I think the example puzzle is at least as absorbing as the main puzzle, so do give it a try also!

Absolutely wonderful! Rock solid interesting logic throughout. Relatively easy for a 5* puzzle, I found it borderline between four and five stars difficulty.
