[New Constraint] Entropy Sudoku

(Published on 3. December 2021, 05:28 by Mad-Tyas)

I've invented a new Sudoku constraint (at least it's new to the best of my knowledge). It's pretty simple, but has interesting logic in it. And it can be combined with all variants.
For the presentation, however, I decided to show it pure and without other variants.

Rules:

Sudoku: Fill every row, column and 3x3 box with the digits 1-9.

Entropy: The low digits (1, 2, 3), middle digits (4, 5, 6) and high digits (7, 8, 9) are defined as three different groups. In the finished grid each 2x2 box has to contain at least one digit of each group.

Have fun solving!

Solution code: Row 2 followed by column 2 (18 digits)

So this is where it al started. Very nice, especially to see how the constraint has evolved from a relatively easy puzzle, easy because of all the experience I have built, to brutal monsters. Thank you

I have been a great fan of your entropy puzzles and have solved quite a few of them, but somehow this very first one had been eluding me! Today must be a lucky day (earlier today, I solved your "50th Celebration" puzzle.). Thanks, @ Mad-Tyas:).

Nice concept!
Colouring is very helpful here, but as an old fashioned pencil and paper-solver you lack those, so I did a lot more scanning than necessary. :-)

Added Entropy tag

Very nice constraint! Had to start from scratch 3 times because of false assumptions and sloppy notations, but did not mind. There’s an impressive amount of varied logic packed into this puzzle

Really enjoyed the concept, thank you for making this.
This kind of coloring puzzle I can see much potential for a clear or almost clear board along with extra constraints.

Very nice! Took me 34 minutes, so more of a 3 star for me!

It took me 82 minutes across 2 days, but i did it! Almost half of which was me taking an embarassingly long time to find one, ONE(!), deduction, after which it was smooth again.

Just wow! That was tricky in some places (at least for me). But at the same time - very beautiful and interesting logic. And when you do find the logic and the interactions it felt very rewarding. Very fun all the way through. Thanks :)

-Reply: Thank you very much! I really enjoyed reading your comment. I'll try my best to show more beautiful and interesting logic with this constraint.

brutal constraint, love to see it

-Reply: Thank you! You can look forward to see more puzzles with it.
