Factory Line

(Published on 5. November 2021, 22:35 by starwarigami)

The Acme Parity Swapper has been sabotaged!

Fix the production line by replacing the missing conveyor belts. Belts come in any length between 3 and 9 cells, and each must connect two coloured workstations - the lengths are determined by the number of cells they pass through, including the workstations. The belts, tubes and chutes must form an unbroken, orthogonally connected path between the red and green workstations, visiting every other workstation exactly once and passing through every cell of the grid.

Technical Manual:
  • Conveyor Belts (Anti-Factor Lines) - Digits on a line of length n may not be any multiple or factor of n other than 1, and must sum to a multiple of n.
  • Grey: Pneumatic tubes (Between Lines) - Digits on the line must be between the digits in the circles.
  • Yellow: Chutes (Thermometers) - Digits must increase from the bulb end.
  • Pink: Enlargers (Maximum) - The digit in the cell must be larger than all orthogonally connected cells.
  • Blue: Cloning Vats (Clone) - Cages labelled with the same letter must contain the same digit.
  • Red: Input Hopper (Odd) - Insert an odd digit here
  • Green: Quality Control (Even) - If the machine is working correctly, you should get an even digit here.

I'm confused about this ruleset- if the path must visit every cell, and conveyor belts must have at least length 3, how can r1c5 be included in the path? There's no room for a 3-cell belt... unless the colored cells can be part of the belt?

@CastleSheepside belts connect the centres of the workstations, and their lengths are the number of cells they pass through, so a line of length 3 through R1C4-R1C6 would be a valid belt of length 3. I'll try and update the wording of the rules for clarity
