Quiver Plot

(Published on 28. October 2021, 04:48 by lavaloid)

This is a puzzle genre which I created. Have fun!

Rules:

Divide the grid into 1xN (N >= 1) rectangles and assign each of them a direction matching its orientation (up/down = vertical, left/right = horizontal, squares can be in any direction). Adjacent regions must have different direction and size. Clues indicate the direction of the region occupying it.

Below is an example of a Quiver Plot puzzle and its solution:

How to extract solution code:

In the required rows, write down the direction of every cell from left to right. Up, down, left, and right arrows are written as U, D, L, and R respectively. In the example puzzle, row 3 would be written as DUDLDL.

Solution code: Row 3, then row 9.

Very well done! I'm always full of respect for the invention/development/discovery of such elegant new puzzle types and solving the puzzle itself was really rewarding for me. :-)

Magnificent puzzle. The last 25% of the puzzle took 20 minutes on its own but the logical path was superb.
