Newton's Laws Sudoku

(Published on 13. October 2021, 23:41 by wattK)

As a physics teacher I was inspired to create a puzzle which shows Newton's Laws of Motion in a puzzle.

1st Law: an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted on by a net force

ΣF = 0

2nd Law: the net force applied to a body produces a proportional acceleration

F = ma

3rd Law: every action has an equal and opposite reaction

-F_1 = F_2

Place a digit from 1 to 9 into each cell so that no digit repeats in any row, column or bold region. The digits in the thermometer shapes must be strictly increasing in each cell from the round bulb to the tip.

Here is a link to the puzzle on f-puzzles:

Solution code: The 5th column followed by the 9th row

I really enjoyed this puzzle, but i feel that the community ratings have changed in the last 3 years. this is a 3* per rating, but i would be willing to bet a lot of money it would be scored a 2* if published today. not a knock on the puzzle at all, i really liked it. I just have noticed the difficulty ratings have changed in the past few years.
