Additionally, in any three adjacent cells forming a vertical or horizontal line, the middle number may not be the (approximate) mean of the outer two. For instance, a 5 cannot appear in a row or column immediately between a 3 and a 7, and neither 5 nor 6 can appear between 2 and 9.
