Sudoku Variants Series (336) - Remote Clones Sudoku

(Published on 1. September 2021, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants ProjectI have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every week. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Remote Clones Sudoku
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Arrows in a cell indicate that the Nth cell from the clue cell contains the same digit in both directions, with N being the digit in the clue cell.

Inspiration for this type comes from stephane.bura.

Solve online in Penpa+ (thx again to Henry!)

Solution code: Row 7, followed by column 2.

Very enjoyable puzzle! However based on my solving time (compared to how long it usually takes to solve a 3* Richard Stolk Sudoku) this I would rate with a maximum of 2*.

@Tintenklexs:
Thanks!
And you are absolutely right. FYI: the rating is very close to 2 stars. (Currently, from all 113 3*-SVS-puzzles this is the fourth-easiest.)

Nice one Richard! Not to difficult but very fun and enjoyable. Fascinating how the arrow cells can give so much information. Thanks!

Small change in the instruction text. I guess now they are (more) correct.

Unusually few solves in the first few hours (for a fair benign puzzle). Is it possible too many of us have been watching Simon's livestream and need to catch some sleep afterwards? I know I did. :P

Penpa+: https://git.io/JEQHj

"Nth cell starting from the clue cell" is misleading, because the clue cell doesn't count as the first cell. Stephane's original phrasing "at a distance of N" is better.
