Ein echtes Schachsudoku

(Published on 23. August 2021, 15:39 by CJK)

Right now we are in the middle of a game of chess. There have been made some moves by the standard chess rules, but neither a capture nor a castling appeared yet. Also, every piece has been moved at most once.
Every piece carries a digit from 1 to 8, which wants to be written in the current cell of the figure. It is even possible to fill the whole grid with digits from 1 to 8, such that every digit appears in every row, column and box exactly once!
Can you discover the current chess position and solve the sudoku?

One of my favorite puzzles ever. I absolutely loved it. I would love more like this--maybe chess 960?

@chameleon: Yeah, that's the case for quite a few links unfortunately :/
I have not yet found the time to change the links, but I will do some day in the future. Thanks for letting me know!

Utterly brilliant, the way a simple chess rule solves a stalemate (pun intended) is brilliant. KUDOS!

Without a doubt my favorite puzzle. Being a lover of chess and sudoku, I knew I had to try this as soon as I saw it on CTC. Brilliant setting!

Beautiful puzzle! I got all the chess logic almost instantly, but I suck at sudoku so it took me 80 minutes :D

Very cool sudoku although I cheated two times (uniqueness and stockfish), this makes me a chess cheater as well as a sudoku cheater.

Truly a brilliant puzzle! This was the first CTC feature where I watched the first few moments, then IMMEDIATELY went to solve the puzzle myself. Now I'm going to watch the rest of the video!

@Raumplaner: Unfortunately, I am actually not a big fan of sudokus, this one was only an exception.

So there proably won't be any more sudokus from me in near future :/

It took me some time to find a way notating my moves and conclusions. But it was an absolut enjoyable journey from there on - i highly recommend trying it! I would like to see more from these
