Loosing my precision 9 (±9)

(Published on 10. August 2021, 05:49 by ymhsbmbesitwf)

I find puzzles with uncertain cage totals very satisfying and wanted to develop a simple set of rules that allow it - haven't seen this variation anywhere yet. Hope it's as much fun to solve as it was to set. Can't be sure, but i think it should be average/easy difficulty for anyone experienced in solving killer cage sudoku. Comments welcome.

Rules:

  • Each box, column and row contains digits 1 to 9 once each.
  • Digits cannot repeat in a cage.
  • The sum of digits in a cage is given with the first digit as it's precision (for example if the number was 30 the cage's sum would be 30±3 and digits could add up to anywhere from 27 to 33).

Puzzle available in CtC app, f-puzzles and Penpa+. Note: software won't be able to reliably check the solution because these are not standard cages.

Solution code: Digits in column 7 and row 7.

Very elegant puzzle! This idea seems to have a lot of potential, and your sudoku really shows that in a nice way.

Super glad I came back for the correction - this is a lovely variant and a really wonderful puzzle. Found it rewarding and challenging the whole solve. Thanks!

Corrected cage in box 1, previous sum (27) was a puzzle-breaking mistake. Thanks everyone for pointing it out.
