Louis XV sudoku

(Published on 9. August 2021, 14:47 by filuta)

In a celebration of having my first rated puzzle, which featured mystery XV, I thought I would share with you another mysterious XV gem. Big thanks to ctc discord users Florian Wortmann, Fryer and HilariousHappystar for their test solves and feedback.

You might find it hard to believe, but the image below is a sudoku self-portrait of at that time 14 years old French king Louis XV, which makes it in turn the first documented XV sudoku. In fact, historians now appear to agree that, whatever you think of Louis XV as a ruler (or an artist), it is now time to acknowledge, there would be no XV in this or perhaps any other sudoku if it wasn't for him.

Unfortunately, f-puzzles and even penpa were yet to be invented in the 18th century and so unsurprisingly cannot accommodate this historical puzzle, therefore no link this time.

Also, in a way, this is a sequel to one of my previous puzzles which you can find here.

Solution code: column V and row V (without a comma or a space)

Fun (and funny) little puzzle.
Rather impressive managing to get a grid that had a clean solve path and makes a pretty good portrait.

I solve nearly all puzzles on mobile phone so I was bummed when there was no link to the puzzle (since I cannot create the puzzle on my phone). Then I forgot about it for some time... :/ but now after ctc gave the link, I finally solved it. Thank you! Fun puzzle.
..........
Happy to came back to it and thanks for your comment too.

I really liked this one. Hope it gets a rating.
Just an FYI: On one of my very first puzzle on this site, I added the tag 'English knowledge' and was kindly informed, that that was only used when in-depth knowledge of English history or language was required for a solve. You shouldn't remove it, since no one else mentioned it - just info for future puzzles.
..........
than you, happy you liked it. yeah, I wasn't sure about the tag, thanks for letting me know.

I find it troubling when the rules of a puzzle is itself a puzzle. Not a fan of that at all.
........
Here applies the same I think as with my other puzzle, but in this case, the mystery part is really easy, and I think immediately confirmed after finding the principle.
