Battle With The Archers 8 - The Climax: Odd Crossroad
(Published on 19. July 2021, 13:00 by Playmaker6174)
10 minutes have passed but because the place where Hector and Riego fight is very special, no one can hear anything that happens there. While Riego shows almost no mercy and always aims for critical strike, Hector shows like he hasn't sweated and gone through any real hard work.
- Just like old time right? You're so close to be there, that's really impressive for a man taking a break for few years.
The back and forth steps, the slips, the tension, some heavy breathing moments... all under dim light at midnight. When Hector takes the sword away from Riego, a flashback suddenly occurs. This flashback takes us back to the moment when they practiced together at the remote crossroad through many nights (which is right next to that storage), after knowing that they would receive the very first mission. Riego was known as a very smart person and for his flexibility but despite that, he usually tended to rush at everything and his careless stubbornness could hurt himself at any time. Hector has learned mostly all of the needed fighting skills since childhood and he was considered as one of the most excellent person the castle has ever witnessed, so when it came to teaching a person like Riego, Hector voluntarily decided to be his trainer as he saw some good potentials from him. Since it's the first time Riego's had to get used with a sword, Hector always observed him and had to teach some basic or even advanced fighting skills if wanting to survive.
Each night has passed and Riego slowly improved himself and developed his basic skills, sometimes he was tested to see if he had successfully learned some specific techniques. Eventually it came to getting used with a sword to fight an enemy. Riego struggled many many times as he always got the flashback from his dad - a former hero one time - being stabbed and brutally slashed right in front of his eyes. One night Riego slipped and almost fatally stabbed Hector but thankfully Hector knew and dodged, still he got slashed at his thigh. A depressed Riego knelt down and cried but instead of blaming, Hector put his hand in front of him with a brief sentence "sometimes we have to overcome the past to be success in the future", then they continued to practice. Time went on, Hector and Riego gradually got along with each other, every time they practiced fighting together it's like a beautiful dance under the moonlight and it really showed how good this was when they're performing together.
Back to the present, as Riego is constantly crying...
- Well, feeling remorse yet? It's painful to see you turn out like this and I really don't like it at all. Unless you're continuing to follow the destiny...
Riego pushes Hector immediately and grabs the sword, preparing to kill him. Riego knows he can kill him right here but he's being hesitant for a second and with quick replexes, Hector outsmarts him and uses the sword to break his sword in half, which also delivers a small slash on his thigh. Riego kneels down and Hector steps on the sword, takes the necklace off his pocket and uses his hand to remove all of the stains from Lena's picture, tending to show his mercy on him despite the things happening in past days. Hector knows he can't forgive Riego because of the laws but he has some conversations to remind him the day they saved each other and the fact that Hector also has a very tough past like him.
This is the 8th puzzle of my
Battle With The Archers collection, I think it's the most challenging one of the series so far in terms of how the path goes but still it'll deliver some nice treats here :)
Also check out the previous puzzles from the collection, some will give you really fun and enjoyable experiences :}
Rules: Normal Sudoku rules apply. Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in the circle cell attached to that arrow.
Cell containing grey circle is odd, cell containing grey square is even.

8 down 32 to go. The path got very difficult after the break-in. Very enjoyable but longer solve than the previous puzzles in this series.

I didn't find this quite as challenging as some of the others - it was very clear where to look here - but it was still a lot of fun!!
