This started with a single gimmick and I continued to tinker and tinker until I felt happy enough to post it. I have to give a massive shoutout to Andrewsarchus (from the CTC Discord channel) for providing tons of help in helping this project reach its final form.

Normal sudoku rules apply. Standard killer and little killer rules apply (In cages, digits must sum to the number in the top-left corner and cannot repeat; numbers outside the grid indicate the sum of the digits on the indicated diagonal and may repeat). All cages are used to form a coded message which the solver MUST decipher in order to solve the puzzle. The given highlighting is not required for this code but does provide a minor hint/guidance.
