Battle With The Archers 3: The Suspicious Butterfly

(Published on 14. June 2021, 13:06 by Playmaker6174)

An archer was murdered at the midnight and left with a weird looking butterfly mark on the forehead. What could that mark possibly mean?

This is the 3rd puzzle of my Battle With The Archers collection, and it might be my favorite one so far. While it looks friendly, the real break-in requires the combination of basically everything in this puzzle :}

Rules: Normal Sudoku rules apply. In addition, digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in the circle cell attached to that arrow. Digits along an arrow can repeat if allowed by other rules.

To clarify a bit more, circled cell r1c6 has two arrows and one of them diagonally points to r4c9, so it's a 3 cell arrow.

What a lovely puzzle! It's really fascinating how it kept on being clever after the break-in, even though (almost) everything was somewhat involved in cracking that open! Very good work :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! Till now I'm pretty surprised that not many people have seen this yet but I always welcome :)

Stunning and elegant design! It was incredible how intricately all the arrows interact, and that there is a smooth (and tricky) logical solve path. Thanks a lot for setting this lovely puzzle! :-)

Thank you so much! Yes, the beginning looks very similar to your Archers and Knights one as well.
When I constructed the arrows in box 7,8 to finish the butterfly and noticed the interactions I was like "alright I'll bring it to the stage, a few more should be done", but surprisingly "a few more" also took a long time to think too :)

Wonderful puzzle. I spun my wheels by not taking obvious steps at the beginning, but once I started solving instead of guessing, the path was smooth and satisfying.

Thank you! To be honest, I think this puzzle is a whole ride to anyone wanting to try it :)

Lovely break in and very intricately constructed. Got stuck towards the end and had to pencilmark and stare, but made it through in the end! Great job

Thank you so much! As the main idea is that butterfly there, it's difficult to construct such arrows that have nice flow and don't interfere with the butterfly. Took a long time but finally got this one. It's beautiful, and reasonably hard too.
Also i'm glad you enjoyed this one :)

One of the most beautiful puzzles I have ever solved ! Insane break-in and nice flow after that.

Thanks a lot! I'm so excited that the puzzle turns out to be that well and enjoyable ;)
