The Pythagorean Thermo
(Published on 4. June 2021, 20:29 by djorr)
Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits along a thermometer increase from the bulb end.
There are seven right triangles in the grid. For each triangle, the three vertices are all shaded one color. Right triangles must obey the Pythagorean theorem. That is, A^2 + B^2 = C^2, where A is the sum of the digits on one leg of the triangle, B is the sum of the digits on the other leg of the triangle, and C is the sum of the digits on the hypotenuse. Digits are allowed to repeat on the hypotenuse if allowed by other rules.
For reference, the first 8 primitive Pythagorean triples are:
(3, 4, 5)
(5, 12, 13)
(8, 15, 17)
(7, 24, 25)
(20, 21, 29)
(12, 35, 37)
(9, 40, 41)
(28, 45, 53)
Non-primitive Pythagorean triples are also allowed such as (6,8,10) or (10,24,26), etc.
