Serial Killer / Serienkiller

(Published on 19. May 2021, 07:33 by Ryx)

Normal Sudoku Rules apply.

Digits cannot repeat in a cage and must sum to the cage's total, which is not given and left to the solver to discover.

All cage totals are unique and sequential.

Cages with consecutive sums must be orthogonally connected.

The smallest cage and the largest cage are also orthogonally connected.

All highlighted cages have either an even or odd total.

As I watched Tyrgannus' video about puzzle setting and he talked about some special little killer clues in his puzzle, I had the thought about making a consecutive little killer puzzle, thinking to call it "serial killer". The next day, as luck or fate would have it, I saw Simon's solve of SenatorGronk's puzzle: Sequential Killer. That gave me a bit of inspiration and I ended up creating this puzzle.

Solution code: Digits from row 5 followed by column 5

Very nice puzzle! I liked it and waiting for more of this type ;)

Ryx: Thank you for the kind words and glad you liked it. Apparently everyone likes it, I have. This is my highest rated puzzle, so maybe I should do more of these ;-)

Ryx: Well, I created a follow-up and just posted it on the Discord server (link below). I found that it bears a slight resemblance to one of your previous puzzles (K-P-K id=0005LM), using Killer Cages joined by Kropki dots, but there the similarity ends ;-) I will probably post it here in the next day or two.
