Logic Masters Deutschland e.V.

arROw SudOkU rEduX

(Published on 20. April 2021, 13:49 by filuta)

This puzzle is (again) kind of a remake of one of my previous puzzles, and is intended to be both easier and also somehow cleaner realisation of the original idea.

Rules
Standard sudoku rules apply. In addition to that:
-Digits must not repeat on the indicated diagonals.
-Grey lines are palindromes (i.e. read the same from both directions - like 147741).
-Grey circles mean odd digits.
-Inequality signs indicate inequality between the cells.

Have fun and thanks (in advance) for any feedback/comments!

Very nice puzzle to solve. I loved the idea that you had for this puzzle and the symetry in it. Great idea and execution. For me it was 4/5* of difficulty.

The break-in was really straightforward but then it took time to find the next step and think in another direction. And this was definitely the intention of this puzzle-wow! Congratulation to this creative setting!

Very nice! More elegant than its prequel imo, though I found it a bit harder as I had to stare for a while to spot a key deduction. 5/5 difficulty for me.
............
Yeah, I wanted to put more emphasis on that key step and then make it more relaxed and perhaps cleaner after that. Thank you!

A really beautiful puzzle! I hope it will be solved by more people!
....
oh, thank you for such a kind comment (and the solve too)

@Filuta I’m solving your «original» arROw SudOkU now, btw! It’s indeed harder. I solved this one in 61 minutes, but the other one definitely will take longer. I’m enjoying it, though!
.......
yeah I would say the original one is considerably harder, yet for some reason, it found its (few) solvers much more quickly then this one. anyway, respect for finishing them both!

I'm so sorry no one else has been able to solve this so far. :-( They are missing out on some truly magnificent logic ...

filuta: finally :o)

Tilberg: Yes! :-) And he's a good setter, too. I'm glad that he also thinks this puzzle is extraordinary. By the way, your German translation is alright, just replace "Vergleichssymbole" with "Ungleichheitszeichen".

Congratulations for your first feature on CTC! About time! :-)
..........
Thanks Tilberg, it came out of nowhere, but what can I say, pretty cool.

Oh my God, that was amazing. Finding the solution after ages of wrecking my brain, almost felt kathartic. Or, at least, I felt like Jeff Goldblum in "Independence Day", turning my thinking cap around ...

Anyway, although the puzzle IS approachable once you think the right way, it is definitely harder than just 2 stars. I'd say, at least 4 stars.

filuta: Oh, thank you so much for such comments, it really made my day. And thanks also for the difficulty suggestion.
