My experience was much like msj's: After a couple of bifurcations at the start I realized how to get the same result without them. After that it was smooth sailing. Thanks!

very enjoyable, as always with a RockyRoer puzzle an uncommon rule set which makes you think to find the break-in. Nice logic interaction continues with a nice balance of Sudoku giving digits as well which contribute to the logic nicely.
In relation to comments ref bifurcation - my first solve felt that way, but I went back to the start - with hindsight of the logic that the rules drive - and found a much more logical break-in to box 5.
