Unstable knights

(Published on 23. March 2021, 12:39 by mooncamlivestream)

RULES

-Normal sudoku rules apply

-Digits inside thermometers increase from the bulb end

-Digits separated by an empty white dot are consecutive

-Digits separated by a white dot with a two inside it have a difference of two

-The two 2x2 cages contain the exact same set of numbers, but not necessarily in the same order (for example if one of the two contains the digits 1, 2, 3, 4 the other one must also have 1, 2, 3, 4; but doesn't have to be in the same order)

-The 1x1 cages must contain odd digits and the digits orthogonally adjacent to 1x1 cages must be even

-Every single EVEN number, with the exception of the two given twos in the corner must BREAK the standard antiknight rule (i.e. every even number not on one of the four corners must have a copy of itself in at least one square a knight's move away from it)

SIDE NOTES:

Unfortunately due to the limitations of the f-puzzles software, not all mistakes are corrected and the sudoku has multiple solutions according to the solving algorithm (even though the puzzle has only one unique solution) that's because the special rule for evens is not settable, nor are the rules applied to the cages (both 2x2 and 1x1)

Solution code: Second and eighth row of the puzzle (without spaces)

@mooncamlivestream I fully understand what you mean and sense of difficulty rating can without doubt vary from person to person. Anyway, it was challenging but still doable. Thanks!

@RootsInWermland thanks a lot for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed this puzzle and I'm very satisfied of it since this is the first puzzle I set up that I'm actually proud of. In hindsight this puzzle is probably not of 5 stars difficutly, considering some of the other incredibly hard but amazing puzzles on this website!

What a puzzle! My first 5-star puzzle that I managed to solve on this site. I really like the intricate steps of deductions and also that you have to be so careful about breaking the anti-knight rule. It was also nice that breaking this rule was necessary until the very, that topped it off.
