Little Parity Party Sudoku

(Published on 21. March 2021, 00:32 by MagnusJosefsson)

This puzzle is a Parity Party Sudoku puzzle, inspired by the incredible series by glum_hippo.
It is my first attempt to set a puzzle myself, having solved several hundred on this site. Hopefully some of you will try it and like it.
Do note that the rules are ever so slightly different to the standard parity party rules as invented by glum_hippo.

Rules

Standard Sudoku rules apply.

A number next to an arrow gives a parity party clue for the indicated diagonal: the clue is the sum of the digits on the diagonal up to and including the first digit with the opposite parity to the digit in the first cell.
If all digits on the diagonal have the same parity, the clue is the sum of the entire diagonal.
Note that by these rules, a single digit clue cannot just be the digit in the single first cell.

A square in a cell indicates that the digit in that cell is even.
A circle in a cell indicates that the digit in that cell is odd.

Digits can repeat along diagonals.

That first puzzle was already very original and fun ! Particularly liked what happened in the late midsolve, when all the clues had almost dried out and there was some subtle observation to make. Thanks :)

Somehow I broke this puzzle twice before finally cracking it. It had some very neat logic, thanks.

Fantastic puzzle. I found it to be about 3/5 difficulty, but clearly the consensus is that it's harder than that. I'm happy to be the one to get it out of provisional ratings.

Thank you DiMono! I am really happy as well, I didn't think this would ever get a rating. /Magnus

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit I've broken it twice now, but it's nice to see other authors tackling this genre. I have not given up!

I am honoured that you are trying my puzzle. Next attempt you will get it right I'm sure.
The funny thing is I actually had some trouble before completing your diagonal PP puzzle (XIII) as well. :) /Magnus

Very nice and smooth puzzle. Particularly loved some of the mid-solve logic. Hopefully it will lead to more sets by you!

Thank you Mark, glad you liked it. I enjoyed the process of setting this, so hopefully I will get another idea worthy of a puzzle in the future. /Magnus

Very nice puzzle. A bit difficult for me as it was my first attempt at parity party. Nonetheless, it was fun to solve.

Thank you for solving and for your kind words, udukos. Yeah, parity party puzzles definately have a bit of a learning curve, but get easier quickly when you get familiar with them. /Magnus
