Roman Skyscraper Sandwich

(Published on 25. March 2021, 08:58 by PjotrV)

The term skyscraper was found in the 20th century, but the Romans already had buildings between 40 and 70 meters tall according to historians. Fun fact, in the past, because there were no elevators, the higher floors were for the poor people.

The term sandwich was found in the 18th century, named after the Earl of Sandwich, but the Romans already had market stalls selling bread with different kinds of fillings. This was basically no different from the junk food right now.

Normal Sudoku rules apply. On top of that:
  • The clues outside the grid are both a Skyscraper and a Sandwich Sum at the same time.
    • Skyscraper rule = Each number in the grid represents the height of a building and the clues outside of the grid indicate the number of buildings that can be seen from that perspective.
    • Sandwich Sum rule = This means the numbers outside the grid must be in between the 1 and 9 in their respective horizontal or vertical.
  • The X and V are Roman numerals, the connected cells to the X or V must sum to the value of the Roman numeral.
There are no negative constraints

This was my first puzzle with skyscrapers. I found it quite difficult.

Loved the combination of sandwich clues and skyscraper clues.

Thank you for this puzzle.
