Six-pack Linked Sudokus #4

(Published on 12. March 2021, 01:16 by Genomico)

Another six-pack linked sudokus puzzle, consisting of six different variants of 6x6 sudokus, which are all linked together by circles.
A circle must contain one digit from 1 to 6 and is a clue for both adjacent puzzles, because that digit has to be placed in one of the first two cells in the corresponding direction of both puzzles.
In each circle only one digit can be placed. In other words, seen from the direction of the circle there is only one digit that occurs in the first two cells of both adjacent puzzles, see examples below

Clues outside the grid (not in circles) belong to the specific sudoku variant.

Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply to all sudokus, so every row, column and region must contain the digits 1 to 6. The different variants in the puzzle:
  • 1) Sandwich sudoku: Clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the digit(s) placed between 1 and 6 in the corresponding row or column.
  • 2) Killer sudoku: rules.
  • 3) Little killer sudoku: rules. Digits may repeat on the diagonal.
  • 4) X-sums sudoku: rules.
  • 5) Thermometer sudoku: rules.
  • 6) Skyscraper sudoku: rules.

The puzzle is also available on Penpa. Enjoy solving! :)

Solution code: The row with the 18 circled digits in the middle of the grid, followed by the 6 circled digits between the Thermometer and Skyscraper sudokus from top to bottom. 24 digits in total.

First one in the series for me, how did you set this ? There were so many interesting moments throughout, while being approachable !

Reply: Thank you for your nice comment on this puzzle :) I'm very glad you enjoyed solving it. The hardest part is trying to think of a rule that links the sudokus. When I have that I think of 6 sudoku types I want to use and I start adding clues that give a nice logical solving path and interaction between the sudokus. Basicly it's solving the puzzle yourself (the way you like solving puzzles) while constructing it. I hope you enjoy other puzzles as well :)

Toll. Das Interessanteste der Reihe (bisher).

Reply: Thank you for your comment :) "Bisher" implies you're expecting more to come? ;) I feel the pressure :P But when I have another idea, and people keep liking it, then surely more will follow :) Stay tuned :D

I haven't actually finished it yet - an hour and a half in I found a contradiction. But I got close enough to the end that I finished what I could, and it turns out the parts that matter for the solution code I had right. Now to actually finish it. :D

Edit: And I'm done. Wonderful set of puzzles, I love how they work together with each other. Thanks for setting this.
