10 x 10 Chutes and Ladders (Rutschen und Leitern)

(Published on 6. March 2021, 16:52 by Ryx)

This puzzle is based on the Chutes and Ladders board game, popular in America (since 1943) and known throughout the rest of the world (for thousands of years prior) as Snakes and Ladders.

In this puzzle, I have made all the Chutes and Ladders align with Bad clues (chutes) and Good clues (ladders). This is in keeping with the moralistic theme of the board game.

Irregular Sudoko rules apply - the numbers 1-10 must be placed and not repeat, in each row, column and 2x5 region of the puzzle.

Ladders - are "good" clues and follow the rules of Arrow clues: the number in the circle must equal the sum of the digits along the arrow

Chutes (in red) - are "bad" clues and do not follow their rules.
* Killer cages are either: 1) not contiguous or 2) repeat a digit in the cage
* Thermometer clues have one cell that breaks the "must increase from the bulbous end" rule. i.e. 1,2,4,3,6
* Between clues - have one number that is not between the digits given in the enclosing circles.
* Arrow clues have either an incorrect sum or one incorrect addend i.e. (54) -> 3, 4, 7. "54" is not the sum of 3 + 4 + 7, but "14" is and is one cell different than "54". Likewise, 8 -> 5, 7, 1 (the 7 is "bad" and should have been a 2)
* Red line clues - Should have no consecutive digits along its line, but one cell failed to comply with that rule

All bad cells, where possible, are given. The non-contiguous killer cages has no given bad cell.

Below is an image of the board game overlayed with my "chutes" and "ladders". Truth be told, it was not until I created an earlier version of this image, that I realized that I was missing one of the chutes from the board game (the one that looks like a "3" here). Luckily, it was easily added within the existing parameters I had already specified and did not significantly impact the solve.

It looks like the solution code got lost, when I deactivated/reactivated it? Sorry about that. It is fixed now.

Es sieht so aus, als ob der Lösungscode verloren gegangen ist, als ich ihn deaktiviert/reaktiviert habe? Das tut mir leid. Es ist jetzt behoben

Deactivated for a bit to do further testing, all good (as far as I can tell). No changes.

Deaktiviert für ein bisschen, um weitere Tests zu machen, alles gut (soweit ich sagen kann). Keine Änderungen.

Since some clues are purposely bad/broken, you may prefer to turn off: Settings --> Highlight Conflicts

Da einige Hinweise absichtlich schlecht/kaputt sind, können Sie diese ausschalten: Einstellungen --> Konflikte hervorheben
