Crack the Cages

(Published on 25. February 2021, 11:01 by RockyRoer)

The Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Every killer cage must be "cracked" into exactly two separate regions containing connected cells, which should be shaded different colors. The cells in one region will sum to the cage total, while the other region will multiply to the cage total. You must determine where the cages split. Numbers may not repeat in a cage.

What are the rules for the "cracking"? I assume each of the two regions have to be contiguous. But other than that, everything allowed?

Reply: Looks like you were able to figure out while I was sleeping? The cages must split into exactly two regions -- and the cells in each region must be connected orthogonally. The regions could be any size or shape, as long as the cells in one of them add to the total, and the other one multiplies to the total. Hope that helps future solvers! Thanks for trying it!
