Sudoku Variants Series (309) - Sudoku Kropki Pointers

(Published on 24. February 2021, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants ProjectI have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every week. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Sudoku Kropki Pointers
Apply classic sudoku rules.
A white circle between two cells indicates that the neighbouring digits are consecutive. A black circle indicates that one of the neighbouring digits is twice as large as the other one. The absence of a circle indicates that the neighbouring digits cannot be consecutive or double. Between digits 1 and 2 the circle can be either white or black.
All circles have to be placed by players. Digits in cells with arrows correctly indicate the number of black and white circles in the direction of the arrow. All possible arrows in all possible cells are given.

Inspiration for this type comes from udukos.

The penpa link doesn't work for me; some of the arrows show up as square boxes with hexadecimal codes in them. In case anyone else has the same problem, here's a penpa link that does work for me, using inequality signs for the white arrows: https://tinyurl.com/y6xbkmsv
Here it is in the Cracking the Cryptic app: https://tinyurl.com/4ve4839x
(One black arrow in r7c2 is partly obscured by a white arrow. I don't know why that happens there but not in r1c4.)

Thanks for the excellent puzzle.

@Richard - Lovely puzzle. I am glad that I could inspire you. That's one Sudoku goal I can check off my list.

@henrypijames - My inspiration to try to create an arrow variant comes from Stephane only.

Nice. I've made udukos' puzzle only four days ago. Small changes in the setting and it's (almost) a complete other puzzle-type!
