Life on 49 Cells

(Published on 2. March 2021, 01:00 by SudokuExplorer)

Each 7x7 puzzle has standard irregular sudoku rules.
Each row, column and region contains the digits 1 to 7.

Palindrome Rules:
Each grey line reads the same from either end (eg 3663 or 5225).
Here's a F-Puzzles link (two star difficulty)

Thermometer Rules:
Numbers along a thermo increase from the bulb end.
Here's a F-Puzzles link (three/four star difficulty)

Skyscraper Rules (with negative constraint):
Each cell contains a skyscraper with height given by the digit in the cell.
Higher skyscrapers block the view of lower skyscrapers.
Numbers outside the grid tell how many skyscrapers are visible in the row/column from that direction.
All 3s and 4s are given!
Here's a F-Puzzles link (two/three star difficulty)

Arrow Rules:
Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in its circle.
Digits may repeat along an arrow.
Here's a F-Puzzles link (four star difficulty)

You can also try all of them on Penpa+. Enjoy!

Solution code:
For the palindrome sudoku, enter the last column.
For the thermometer sudoku, enter the first row.
For the skyscrapers sudoku, enter the 4th column.
For the arrow sudoku, enter the last column.

@AsilG: Cheers! I'm pleased you had fun with the arrow sudoku. :-)

@baku: Thanks for the lovely feedback! I'm overjoyed that you enjoyed the geometry, since my main aim was to make the rules interact with the geometry of the regions in a hopefully fun way. Also congratulations for working out the logic, especially since you're new to some of the rulesets. I'm glad you enjoyed the trek and that you didn't get lost following the arrows! :-)

Awesome puzzles!!! The arrow sudoku's logic was surreal!

Oh boy, oh boy! What a treat for the mind! It was my first time tackling Palindrome, Skyscraper and Arrow. The Palindrome was nice, not so hard and lure me in on this quest. Thermo is a favourite of mine and this one is simple *smack fingers* awesome, geometry like that is what makes a great sudoku. The skyscrapper was the easiest for me, beacuse I found a good route to solve (and keeping in mind the negative constrants).
BUT. The arrow Sudoku took me for a journey. A night ill slept feeling all the small pieces I've found mocking me. I felt kind insane with the approach I tryed as a last hope, just to have the setter telling me that it was the intended approach. For that, my good sir, I have to say: Congratulations, that was incredible. Sensational. Visceral. Brillant. And, quite frankly, a little insane haha.
Thanks for the journey and I believe it deserved a proper record in this comment.

What a roller coaster for such a series. My opinions:
- Palindrome: probably between 2 or 3 stars, require some chains of logic & geometry tricks to do.
- Thermometer: This is one of my favorite (mini-) sudokus, its logic is absolutely beautiful yet it still tends to be tricky and hard afterwards. Feels like this should be 4 stars.
- Skyscrapers: I made several mistakes because of the negative constraint, but once trying it again it went very smoothly. I think 3 stars is suitable for it.
- Arrow sudoku: Love the setting of the arrows and the geometry, no surprise as it's maybe the hardest of the series. A solid 4 stars from me.

Changed the word "roughly" to "minimum". The puzzles are roughly in order of difficulty.

I feel that each question is four stars, and the total should be 16 stars. Thank you for the exquisite mini Sudoku.

Great puzzles. Thank you verry much! I learnd a lot about irregulars. Telling the difficulty ("one star" - Haha!) helped to search (and find) for the hidden logic.

Very nice collection of puzzles! Some were quite tricky to get started, but I loved finding the logic in them.

Thanks Mark! I'm really pleased you enjoyed the interaction of the constraints with the irregular regions. :-)

Very nice! The skyscrapers sudoku was probably my favourite.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun setting it too :-)
