Normal sudoku rules apply
A game of zugzwang-free chess (normal chess rules apply, but players are allowed to pass) was played on the 8x8 lower left part of the grid. During the game:
  • No pawn moved from one square to another one containing a strictly smaller digit.
  • No other piece (knight, king, queen, rook, bishop) moved from one square to another one containing a smaller or equal digit.
  • None of the pawns that moved started one a square containing the digit 2.

For instance no pawn could have moved from the digit 4 to the digit 1,2 or 3. No knight could have moved from the digit 4 to a square containing the digit 1,2,3 or 4.

Interesting puzzle and fun to solve. But I'm quite sure, that it's not correct. To my suprise my solving code was accepted although my solution has at least one deadly pattern.

Answer: Thanks a lot for your feedback. Are you sure none of the pieces had to go through one the square of the deadly pattern? For instance if you are talking about the 4 cells 6-2 deadly pattern on the bottom right, a queen must have passed through the 6 ensuring a unique solution.

Nice puzzle! I like the idea of combining sudoku with retrograde analysis in chess.

It is annoying to see a puzzle in the "No Sudoku" list and the description states "normal sudoku rules apply"...

Could you authors *please* add the sudoku icon to your puzzles?

As good as those sudokus might be, if I browse "no sudokus" I don't like to see them.

Answer by AMD: I added the tag. Thank you!

Hi!
This is the first puzzle I setup. I tried to mix retrograde analysis (retros) puzzles in chess and sudokus.
Let me know what you think of the result!

I hope the rules are clear, if you have any questions or if you want any hints I will gladly answer.
