Yin-Yang Fillomino

(Published on 7. January 2021, 01:21 by Phistomefel)

This puzzle is a Fillomino in which the areas must be divided into two groups that satisfy the Yin-Yang rules.

About the rules:
  • The grid is to be divided into several areas, so that each cell contains a number that indicates the size of the associated area.
  • Areas of the same size must not be vertically or horizontally adjacent.
  • Given numbers can belong to the same area. There may also be areas without a given number.
  • The areas must be divided into two groups (white and black) in such a way that white and black cells satisfy the Yin-Yang rules. That is, all cells of the same color must be orthogonally connected and no 2x2 area may be completely covered by one color.
For illustration, here is an example on a 4x7 grid:

Here you find a link to the example.

Now for the puzzle. It is available online via Penpa Plus, as well. Have fun solving!

This was the first puzzle I solved after discovering this wonderful treasury of puzzles. I loved it and have been solving brilliant puzzles ever since. But at that stage I never knew how to register a solve.

So I solved it again, just to complete the record, and still think it is a great puzzle.

Mach dir nix draus. Es soll hier sogar einen (sehr produktiven) Rätselautor geben, nach dem solche Fehler benannt wurden.

@all: Thanks a lot for your comments that there is something wrong with the puzzle! You are absolutely right with your assessments. I am very sorry, but maybe one fine day I will learn how to count.

Argh. Yesterday I gave up, because the last few cells couldn't be filled. Today the tab with the penpa+ process was reloaded and empty.
But I've made a screenshot before.

Anyway, a nice puzzle and a great idea. Both types work together very well.
