Y-Sums Sudoku
Inspiration for this type comes from Mi Yanming.
Solve online: F-Puzzles (Thanks to RockyRoer).
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the first Y digits from that side where Y is the Xth digit from that side and X is the first digit from that side.
Solution code: Row 3, followed by column 8.

I fully agree with you when it comes to learning to know the type, so I encourage to solve Mi Yanming's puzzle first!
And, yes, there are some comparisons to Battlefield Sudoku too. ;-)
