Friendly Killer

(Published on 8. December 2020, 10:42 by SlowLarry)

Usual killer sudoku rules apply. A friendly cell has a value identical to its row-, column- or box-number, counted in the standard way.

Thank you for your kind words, Allagem.
I made this puzzle a day or so after I came up with the friendly rule out of some completely different train of thought. It has indeed a very beautiful structure, but at this point it was quite frankly low-hanging fruit.

Wow! I know I'm late to the party, but I was doing research on the Friendly rule variant and this is the earliest puzzle to hold the tag, so I gave it a try. I was expecting a nice introduction to friendly cell logic, but I got pure mathematical art. Absolutely genius puzzle! Wow!

Very beautiful logic!

Was it intentional that the cages spell CTC (Cracking the Cryptic) or coincidence?

It looked like I was going to hit a wall, but just chipping away here and there eventually unraveled it. Nice.

Very enjoyable little puzzle! At first it looked impossible that a unique solution could exist, but with a little work, it wasn't actually that hard! That's what I like in a puzzle. Well done :)
