Pencil puzzle sudoku hybrid series #3 - Aqre arrow sudoku

(Published on 17. November 2020, 17:05 by Aspartagcus)

Continuing my pencil puzzle sudoku hybrid series with a hybrid between aqre and sudoku.
Aqre is a newish puzzle type created by Eric Fox over at Cracking the Cryptic's discord server. It's got a simple ruleset, see below.

puzz.link has some "rules" to show what is not allowed: Aqre rules and example

RULES:
- Standard sudoku rules apply.
- The digits on an arrow sum up to the digit in the circle of that arrow.
- Aqre rules apply:
+ Shade some cells so that all shaded cells form one orthogonally connected region.
+ The regions (delimited by both the sudoku box lines and the slightly thinner lines) must contain the number of shaded cells equal to the digit in the leftmost cell of the top row of each region.
+ There may not exist any run of more than three consecutive shaded or unshaded cells horizontally or vertically anywhere in the grid.

Below is a 4x4 example, if you wish to try it out, you can do so here: Penpa+

And this is the puzzle:

Enjoy!

For answer check to work, use dark gray for shading together with green, blue or red number/sudoku for digits.

Solution code: Rows 1 and 6 in succession, without spaces or commas.

My first encounter with aqre, loved the rule-set, doing the shading was a lot of fun! :)

Added title, rules and answer check to the puzzle in Penpa+.
Small change in the wording of the rules, and update of the puzzle image (removed the asterisks).

Very nice puzzle, this is my first Aqre so I struggled in this part, but I liked the interaction between both variants. Thank you!
