Clues outside the grid are sandwich clues, but there are THREE crust digits (to be identified by the solver), and the clue indicates the combined sum of all three available sandwiches.
For example, if the crust digits are 2,5,8, then the sandwich sum for the row 123456789 would be:
(3+4) + (6+7) + (3+4+5+6+7)
= 7 + 13 + 25
= 45
Solution code: columns 5 and 6 (18 digits)

Nice puzzle! Once you get your mind around how three sandwiches work, it's actually quite easy! If you like this, be sure to try DiMono's tribute to this puzzle: https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?id=00051Y

An interesting idea with some good math to do around it. As others have said, once you figure out the crust and the math, the solution is not difficult. I agree this deserves more solves.

Once you find the crusts (which is not too hard), the triple-sandwich clues are relatively straightforward.
Nice one! Deserves more solves :-)
