Every row, column and compass region must contain the digits from 0 to 8. Each region contains one compass, a cell with a square. If there is an arrow from the compass to a neighboring cell, the digit in that cell is the numbers of cells in the region in that direction. Enjoy! Play this puzzle in SudokuPad (Thanks damasosos92!) |

Solution code: Take the 18 digits that belong to the regions of the compasses in row 6 and write them from left to right, up to down. (all the digits in those regions from the upper row first, then the second upper row and so on)

Great puzzle! I wouldn’t go as far as to say that this was easy, but coming from your sum compass sudoku, this felt like a very smooth solve! ;-)

Wow, this is a tough one. I made false deductions and had to restart twice. And when I finally got the correct answer, it wouldn't get accepted! I was getting crazy when I suddenly realized that it was because I had been using 9s as a replacement for 0s in my software...

Congrats and thanks for sticking with it :)

Wonderful! Its very impressive how the Sudoku rules interplay with the Compass rules. Happy New Year! :-)
You might want to add the German "Kompass" tag to link to older puzzles of this type.

This puzzle was an absolute triumph. Had to restart a couple of times, but great fun once I got myself around the ruleset.

The ruleset allows for very interesting logical arguments and the puzzle is a lot of fun. Thanks, stephane.bura! :)

I made multiple mistakes and had to backtrack, but it was a very enjoyable rule-set.
Thank you for the puzzle.

A bit confused by the rule at first, then I understood the compass concept and got down working...for hours ! That's some unusual logic there, I really thought I was making logic errors all along, but it eventually fell into place correctly. Nice one !

Congrats!
And thanks :)

one little advice, the illustration of the rule could be clearer if you only show one region instead of three interlocking regions. the instance of the rule should be more related to the illustration rather than the actual puzzle.
anyway, it's atill an intersting puzzle

Back to arrows ... refreshingly new concept. very nice logic. Thanks

Great problem, to avoid ambiguity, answer submission can be simplified.
--
I wanted the partitioning to matter. It's not that hard of a Sudoku problem ;)
***At first I made a mistake when submitting the answer. I mistakenly filled the different compass areas on the sixth line with 9 numbers, and then found the submission error. I hope that others will not make the same mistake.
