Z-Sums Sudoku 1

(Published on 2. October 2020, 13:23 by Semax)

Standard Sudoku rules:
  • Each row, column and 3x3 box has to contain each digit from 1 to 9 exactly once.
Z-Sums rules:
  • Looking from outside into a row or column, the first digit in this direction is called X.
  • Looking from outside into a row or column, the X-th digit in this direction is called Y.
  • Looking from outside into a row or column, the Y-th digit in this direction is called Z.
  • Numbers outside the grid indicate the sum of the first Z digits in the corresponding direction.
For clarification of the rules, it is recommended to solve the two parents X-Sums Sudoku and Y-Sums Sudoku first.

Once the rules were understood, I enjoyed this. Thanks!

@Semax Loved the puzzle! :-)

@Greg Why limit ourselves to 26 letters? ;-)
We could have X(n)-sums where we have n teleportations.
That is X(0)-sums would be the normal X-sums, and X(2)-sums would be these Z-sums.

Given the recent interest in toroidal puzzles, maybe we should assume the alphabet is toroidal too and do A-Sums next?

Good fun though. I did a bit of a double take after seeing the instructions compared to the difficulty rating but it was very straightforward. Has the potential to be made into an absolutely brutal variant though!

@cdwg2000: When I solved your Y-Sums I immediately thought about this variation.

@Realshaggy: Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass es daran nicht scheitern wird. ;)
