Treasure Maps Sudoku 2
(Published on 20. September 2020, 05:33 by Eggr)
As requested, this puzzle is harder than
the first one.
Rules:
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Cells with the same letter are clues on a "treasure map", where the value of each clue denotes its distance from the hidden treasure cell.
There are 4 distinct treasure maps: A, B, C, D. Each map points to a different hidden treasure cell.
The 4 hidden treasure cells all have the same value: X, which must be discovered.

Hints:
Remember that all 4 treasure cells contain the same digit.

[Hints]
Hint1: (Basic strategy)
Treasure can never be more than 9 spaces away from any of its clues. I've found that starting at a clue and counting along the diagonal 2,4,6,8,10 helps to quickly determine which cells are too far away. Most other cells will be eliminated based on how the resulting clues would break the Sudoku restrictions.
Hint2: (Starting this puzzle)
Start with map D, narrow down the options as far as you can and pencil mark the remaining candidate(s) into each D clue.
[/Hint]
This is definitely harder than the first one, but I'm not sure if it's 4 stars.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still testing how hard I can make these. The next one should reach 4-stars.

Very enjoyable! To me it did not feel much more difficult than the first one (maybe because I was more used to the concept, having already solved one). But for sure at most 3 stars difficulty.
