Partial Killer Mystery Sandwich

(Published on 17. September 2020, 16:48 by UnnamedSorcerer)

This is a Partial Killer Mystery Sandwich that I created in late August. MartinR created this variant before I later had the same idea.

Normal Sudoku rules apply. Numbers in the upper left of cages indicate the sum of the digits contained within the cage. Digits may not repeat within cages. Clues outside the grid show the sum of the digits between the X and the Y in that row/column, where X and Y are consistent for the whole puzzle.

Here is an f-puzzles link. The sandwich clue for column 9 is >8, though it is apparently not necessary to solve the puzzle. f-puzzles link

Solution code: 3rd and 6th rows

Hi Bropell, yes I think you're correct. Turning off "highlight conflicts" in the f-puzzles Settings dialog should help.

Puzzle highlights certain digits red when they are correct in column 8 for some reason. Could this have to do with the crusts differing from normal sandwich rules?

Thank you, marcmees! I did try the puzzle without that clue, but I wasn't able to solve it. I probably should have tried more than once, since I suspected that it wasn't necessary.
