Thermo Sandwich Sudoku

(Published on 12. August 2020, 23:48 by JonnyKaufman)

A nice little coffee break puzzle, and if you haven't noticed yet, the design of the grid is meant to look like a Space Shuttle flying through a Meteor Shower. I've also provided a link to a more challenging version without the "Meteors" should you care to try. Both have the same solution, so have fun whichever you choose!

RULES:

1. Normal Sudoku rules apply.

2. Digits outside the grid are the sums of the digits "sandwiched" between the 1 and 9 in the respective row/column.

3. The Space Shuttle is made of two Palindromes and one Thermometer.

4. Thermometers increase starting from the bulb end.

*FYI: Shades of grey are not easily distinguishable. Thermometer on shuttle begins in r8c6 and continues into r7c7.

Puzzle also available to solve using the F-puzzles tool: Space Shuttle in a Meteor Shower

Or, try a more challenging version of the puzzle without "Meteors" here: Space Shuttle in Space.

This is the fifth puzzle in my series of Thermo Design Puzzles. Please check out the others via links below:

1. Magical Kingdom Sudoku (Featured on CTC).

2. Zigzag Thermo Sudoku.

3. Jukebox Thermo Sudoku.

4. Thermo Arrow Sudoku.

Solution code: Column 9, Row 9. No spaces or punctuation (e.g. 123456789123456789).

Lovely puzzle! Enjoyed it a lot. And sure, there were a couple of redundant clues, but I couldn't care less about that. Great work!
