6x6 Square Killer Twins
(Published on 18. August 2020, 02:00 by SudokuExplorer)
This puzzle is a similar construction to the
Mystery Killer Twins sudoku, but
every clue is a square number (1, 4, 9, 16, 25, ...). There are four square numbers (not necessarily distinct) to be determined during the solve. The little square killer clues will reappear in
Sunday's puzzle. Hopefully the starting logic is easier than last time.
Normal sudoku rules apply (Each row, column and region contains each of the numbers from 1 to 6).
Rules about Killer Twin Cages:
In a killer twin cage, each digit appears exactly twice within the cage.
Its cage sum is the total of all the digits in the cage.
For example, if a killer twin cage has two 1s, two 2s and two 3s then its cage sum is 1+1+2+2+3+3=12.
In this sudoku, the two cages are killer twin cages with
cage sums being square numbers.
Rule about Little Square Killer Clues:
The values (not necessarily distinct) on the diagonal, in the direction of the little arrow,
sum to a square number.
You can try this on
Penpa-Edit. Have fun solving!
Solution code: Enter the first and last columns (top to bottom).

@Saskia
Your killer cage doesn't sum up to square, it's 18

Nice puzzle. It's good to have some less traditional Sudokus to solve every once in a while. I thought this was easier than the rating indicated, since I had no restarts and didn't take me two hours. That is usually my gauge, number of hours or number of restarts = stars ;-)
