Nobody puts Baby in a picnic corner

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, the stars of the movie Dirty Dancing (which gave us the famous phrase "Nobody puts baby in a corner"), were 35 and 27 years old when the film was released, in 1987. Thus, their combined age was 62.
In this puzzle, that is also the sum of the digits in each of the shaded areas representing the initials of the stars. Unlike Killer Cages, the numbers in these regions can be reused to make these sums. The sum of the shaded area within the corner boxes, is also noted in parenthesis, as either 35 or 27 (of the 62). i.e. the sum of the blues cells in box 3 is 27.
The number 1, the "baby" of Sudoku numbers, does not appear in any of the four outermost corners of the main box (r1c1, r1c9, r9c1, r9c9).
The letters spelling out "DIRTY DANCING" represent unique digits, with the exception of A and C.
Sandwich clues (numbers/letters given outside rows or atop columns) represent the sum of the digits between the 1 and 9 in that row or column. Two sandich clues on the same row or column indicate two ways of representing the same value.
Thermometers indicate a run of numbers that increase, starting from the bulb. The numbers do not need to be sequential.
Two letters appearing together, such as "NC" indicate the tens digit and ones digit. So, if N were 5 and C were 6, NC would represent 56.

I just saw this recently with my wife (one of her favorite movies) and was surprised to find a commemorative sudoku here. I showed the puzzle to her and she said no thanks (she's not a puzzle person). I rather enjoyed it though. logical and fully uses its complex rules.
@bob Thanks so much for the feedback. As a novice setter, it took quite a while to work this one out. Glad it found another person who is not put off by "too many rules".

I never thought I'd see this crossover but it's a pretty nice little puzzle.
@ Hareeb: Thank you! I spent a long time on this one. Which crossover are you referring to? Dirty Dancing? That part was inspired by the guys at Cracking The Cryptic, they refer to the "can't put something in a corner" quite a bit. The "picnic" part (Thermo + Sandwich) has been done before. I saw that on CTC as well.
