Arrow/Group Sum Sudoku

(Published on 10. July 2020, 21:53 by ahaupt)

Usual Sudoku rules apply.

Group Sums: A number in a small circle indicates the sum of the digits in the cells covered by the corresponding circle. These digits may or may not repeat.

Arrow Sudoku: Digits along an arrow must sum to the number in the corresponding circle.

In this Sudoku all group sum clues contain a comparison operator. The clue ≥26 for example indicates a sum of at least 26. An arrow (<) between two cells points to the smaller number.

This puzzle is a follow-up to my previous killer sudoku. The solution path again contains arithmetical tricks.

The puzzle is also available online with Penpa-edit.

Solution code: First and last row

So happy to revisit this one after a long while! One of the best openings for a puzzle ever (and even more so of a miracle at the time this was published), and the solve path after that was really satisfying and rewarding as well :)

What a fantastic break-in, I found it well telegraphed because arrow sudoku is my favorite variant, and sometimes when you have those arrows you realize there's something going on.
The rest of the solve is just as beautiful, each trick used is so satisfying. I even wrote my solution path so I don't forget this puzzle's solution path, which is, in my opinion one of the very best. I also liked how every clue was needed for the break-in.
Thank you, ahaupt, for this mind-blowing puzzle.

Phenomenal puzzle! The break-in is amazing and the solution path afterwards is expertly crafted. Some challenging steps, but it flows smoothly, the hardest part for me was resolving the arrows in the corners.

Hi logic_jack. I think a good way to ask for hints is using hidden comments. Only you and people that have solved the puzzle would be able to see it. I can edit your hidden comment and add a hint.

In this case you can find a solve of the puzzle on the YouTube Channel Cracking the Cryptic. Search for "The Movie".

Hi, I am new to the logic masters community. I can't find the break-in for this puzzle. How can I peek at the solution? Or is there an option to DM (direct message) other members of the community?

Amazing puzzle! The satisfaction of finding the opening move was well worth the hour it took me to get to it.

Every time you post a new puzzle I think "this is the most incredible puzzle I've ever seen", and this is no exception. The fact that you're able to use such common constraints in a puzzle that's existed so long and still come up with these unbelievable geometric tricks that are executed so elegantly with no extra information is beyond comprehension. This took me 1:20:20, and I've used almost all of my brain cells aside from the few that I have left over to write this comment. Mindblowing.

Very nice. Several levels of quite distinct and varied challenges throughout the puzzle. In particular the opening is very original and elegant.
